Harford County Executive James M. Harkins recently named J. Thomas Sadowski as his director of economic development. Sadowski comes to Harford County government from Baltimore County, where he served as business development director for Baltimore County's department of economic development. During his ten-year tenure in that post, Sadowski was credited with the retention or creation of 25,000 jobs and the closing of 150 projects valued at more than $500 million. Major clients included T. Rowe Price, MBNA America, MCI, Integrated Health Services and Becton Dickinson. His efforts in Harford County will focus on the retention of military and research & development operations at the Aberdeen Proving Ground; the successful development of the 152-acre Higher Education and Applied Technology (HEAT) Center in Aberdeen and the growth of high-tech, manufacturing and white-collar/professional related businesses.
