King & Spalding has brought on Jarel Rosser as a partner in its finance and restructuring practice, a move the firm hopes will strengthen its presence in New York as it looks to expand its structured lending capabilities.
Rosser frequently advises national and international lenders and servicers on structured finance deals, including commercial mortgage-backed securities, balance sheet loans, mezzanine financing and a range of credit facilities secured by commercial real estate. He previously was a partner at K&L Gates and earlier served as associate general counsel for Safehold Inc., a publicly traded ground-lease real estate investment trust.
Law firms have been competing to hire real estate partners as data center growth fuels the need for more property and energy legal work, according to a recent report from Law.com.
He earned a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University.
Rosser said the move will allow him to broaden his practice by taking on loan origination and borrower-side mandates while continuing to focus on lender representation.
Atlanta-based King & Spalding, an international law firm with more than 1,300 lawyers across 26 offices globally, advises clients, including Fortune Global 100 companies, on complex transactions and disputes. The firm has handled matters in over 160 countries spanning six continents.
