BANGKOK, Thailand—Thailand-based Centara Hotels & Resorts opened its newest property, the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, a hotel, convention venue, retail and leisure complex.
Centara Grand at CentralWorld, one of the largest hotels in Asia Pacific with 505 rooms and suites, is located within the central business district. The hotel features nine executive floors, including one floor of World Executive Club; nine restaurants and bars, including Fifty Five, an outdoor rooftop venue with views across the city skyline; and 5-star hotel facilities.
All guestrooms have individually controlled air-conditioning, separate bathrooms, control panel, high-speed Internet access, satellite TV programming, pay-per-view movies, games, radio and in-house music, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, refrigerator, safe box, smoke detector and sprinkler, IDD line telephone, and multimedia connector for video, camera, MP3, laptop, games and iPods.
The hotel also includes a fitness center, spa and business center, and is attached to a 15-screen movie theater and a mall with more than 500 stores and 50 restaurants.
The Bangkok Convention Centre’s design was inspired by the unique shape of a blooming lotus, which combines the symbolic theme of the four elements of life: water, earth, air and fire. The state-of-the-art convention centre offers over 10,000 square metres (107,639 square feet) with ceiling height of 13.5 m (44.29 feet). and the ability to accommodate up to 6,000 delegates in a single pillar-less environment.
Centara operates 14 hotels in Thailand and will manage a property under construction in the Maldives, which is expected to open in May 2009.
