IHG Hotels & Resorts announced at the Expo Real real estate conference in Munich that it has signed a multi-development agreement with Korb, Germany-based Solutions4Hotels GmbH.
As part of the deal, Solutions4Hotels will build 10 hotels in Germany, all of them affiliated with either IHG’s Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express brands.
The portfolio will have approximately 800 rooms in total. Properties already announced include the 80-room Holiday Inn Express Hamburg South, to open in summer 2023; and 79-room Holiday Inn Express Leipzig, to open by the end of 2023.
Each hotel will have a restaurant and service station with electric-charging units and gasoline pumps. Their locations will be on principal German autobahns.
Willemijn Geels, vice president of development for Europe at IHG, said “this is an exciting project for [IHG], especially if we consider the sustainability aspect. … this commitment is part of our 10-year responsible business plan, Journey to Tomorrow, [which] also extends to the way we build new hotels.”
According to IHG, as of June, it had 91 hotels in Germany, of which 79 are in the Holiday Inn brand family. It also has 25 German hotels in its pipeline.
