Qwest Communications, a global provider of secure, reliable broadband Internet-based data, voice, and image communications, has expanded its space at 165 Halsey St. in Newark, NJ. Qwest originally moved into the building's entire 4th floor of 61,000 square feet in October 1998. On August 1, Qwest signed a lease for an additional 26,060 square feet on the 10th floor and plans to expand into the space by September 1. Adam Goldenberg of Tishman Real Estate Services represented the landlord, I.S.J. Management Corp., as well as Qwest in both deals. Qwest's expansion reflects the growth of the company over the last year. The firm's IP network covers more than 25,500 miles in North America and the company serves Mexico and 46 European cities due to strategic relations with companies such as IBM, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, a joint venture with the Dutch telecommunications provider KPN, and its recent merger with U.S. West Communications.
