Cape Cod family-run motel changed hands for first time since 1963
The 72-key Hyannis Holiday Motel, a landmark property in Hyannis, Massachusetts, was built by the parents of James and Stephen Hurley in 1963, and remained with the family up until New Year’s Eve when it was sold for $4.7 million. Newport Hotel Group of Middleton, Rhode Island, which also owns the nearby Hyannis Harbor Hotel, acquired the property, according to Cape Cod Times.

The motel was host to many celebrities throughout the years, including actor Christopher Reeve and musicians Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Members of the Secret Service also stayed at the Hyannis Holiday Motel during the 1980 presidential campaign when Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., was a candidate.

Miami’s Savoy Hotel completes multimillion-dollar renovation
The Savoy Hotel in Miami Beach, which originally opened in 1935, completed a multimillion-dollar refresh by boutique interior design firm Modplay Studio, according to a news release. Designed to give a Miami-meets-Palm Beach vibe, the 31 suites are outfitted with banana leaf-print wallpaper, vintage lamps, velvet furnishings and eclectic art.

The lobby features rattan settees, palm frond seating, velvet sofas, and even a bar cart to greet guests with hand-shaken martinis.
