HNN’s New Look
The website looks different. What happened?
HNN launched a redesigned website on 26 February to improve your experience as a reader.
Some upgrades include:
- a responsive website that makes all content accessible on any device, anywhere;
- more images, artwork and photography;
- faster load times; and
- a smarter search tool.
The site also is simplified. Scroll through the home page for the latest news, special reports—all the big stuff. To navigate content by category, simply click the drop-down menu icon in the right-hand corner of the website.
Has any of HNN’s great content changed?
No. It’s all there—all 17,000+ articles since the day we launched eight years ago.
Will I still receive my newsletters?
Yes. Newsletter service should continue uninterrupted. To update your subscriber info and manage your newsletter subscriptions, sign into your HNN account.
HNN’s new website is “responsive.” What does that mean?
Responsive design means HNN’s website now adjusts based on the screen size of the device on which you’re viewing it. Instead of two separate websites for desktop/laptop and mobile, there is now one platform for all devices.
Do I need to change or update my account information?
No. Your ability to read and access HNN content should remain unchanged.
However, if you would like to update your personal account information (e.g. username, email address), you’re welcome to do so. Simply log in or access your account in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
Where can I find a list of topics, such as “technology” or “operations?”?
See that little icon with three horizontal lines in the right-hand corner of the website? (It kind of looks like a hamburger.) Click it. You’ll find a complete breakdown of all our main categories of coverage.
Where can I find STR news releases that have the data I’m used to seeing?
All news releases from HNN’s parent company, STR, as well as HNN sister companies STR Global and STR Analytics, can be found in the new Data Dashboard section. This section is accessible via the top toolbar of the website or via the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
Where do I view STR Data Presentations?
This has not changes: You must be logged in to your HNN account to view Data Presentations. (Registration is free and secure.) To access them, navigate to the Data Presentation category page via the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
I encountered a bug or error. What should I do?
Pesky bugs have a way of sneaking into any new website. Let us know about them, and we’ll work hard to fix them as quickly as possible. Simply email Alicia Hoisington on the HNN staff at ahoisington@hotelnewsnow.com.
Where are HNN’s familiar categories like Data, Ownership, Operations, Regions and Marketplace that used to be in the toolbar?
- The Data category is now called Data Dashboard.
- You can access the Ownership category from the drop-down menu, located in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
- You can access the Operations category from the drop-down menu, located in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
- In lieu of a Regions category, you can now navigate directly to the four world regions—Americas, Asia/Pacific, Europe and Middle East/Africa—directly from the drop-down menu, located in the upper right-hand corner of the website.
- Marketplace has changed its name to Advertise and is located in the main header on the home page.
How does an article start “Trending”?
Trending articles, viewable in the Trending section of the home page or on Article Pages, are the most-viewed content from the past week.
I have feedback about the website redesign. With whom can I share it?
Good, bad, somewhere in the middle—we like any and all feedback. It helps us do our jobs better.
Share your thoughts with Alicia Hoisington at ahoisington@hotelnewsnow.com.
The Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index
What happened to the Hotel Stock Index website?
To enhance your user experience, we’ve folded the Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index into the HNN website. All of the information you’re used to seeing is still there.
Why are companies divided by HSI Companies, REITs, C-Corps and All Companies?
- “HSI Companies” refers to 20 of the largest market capitalization hotel companies that comprise the Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index.
- “REITs” refers to real estate investment trusts. Some of them are included in the Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index but not all. In this section, we list them all for your convenience.
- “C-Corps” refers to non-REITs. Some of them are included in the Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index but not all. In this section, we list them all for your convenience.
- “All Companies,” as the name implies, includes a list of all companies whose stock performance is tracked by HNN.
What is an Earnings Recap?
The HNN editorial team listens in to quarterly earnings calls of the some of the largest public hotel companies. We report back on noteworthy information from those calls. These stories show up in the Earnings Recap section.
