Population growth and a relatively affordable residential market have helped maintain buoyant demand for retail space. The Edmonton region is growing fast, upward and outward, and the latter has an immediate need for retail space to be built alongside the near peak-level pace of home building. Edmonton has found itself with a tightening retail space market and has seen its retail footprint shrink relative to the number of residents.
