Walker & Dunlop has hired an executive to lead the firm's first push into multifamily investment sales in greater Seattle, where apartment sales have rebounded over the past year.

The real estate finance and advisory firm hired Mark Washington in Seattle as managing director of its investment sales business in the Pacific Northwest. Washington previously served as executive vice president in CBRE’s Seattle office, where he focused on institutional apartment sales.

Washington will lead multifamily sales across the Pacific Northwest as part of Walker & Dunlop's "sales entry into one of the most actively traded multifamily markets in the country," the Bethesda, Maryland-based firm said in a statement.

The move comes as sales have bounced back across greater Seattle. Multifamily investment volume doubled in the region last year to over $6 billion, 54% higher than the $3.9 billion in sales logged in 2024, according to CoStar data.

Washington's hiring means that Walker & Dunlop has "boots on the ground in each of the 20 most actively traded U.S. multifamily markets," the firm said.

“Seattle and the broader Pacific Northwest continue to attract long-term institutional capital, and I’m excited to establish and anchor Walker & Dunlop’s presence in a market,” Washington said.

Walker & Dunlop has been growing its national and global capital markets team. The firm recently transferred a senior director from Manhattan to Miami following a series of major deals throughout South Florida.

Washington, who has closed investment sales, joint venture and development transactions worth about $4.5 billion over his career, worked at Eastdil Secured, JLL and TH Real Estate before joining CBRE in 2021.
