Court order gives neighborhood group temporary control of fire-damaged Soulard church

A St. Louis Circuit Court judge has granted temporary possession of a long-vacant former church at 1222 Allen Ave. to the Soulard Restoration Group, a nonprofit that advocates for the preservation of the Soulard neighborhood's historic building stock. The group had argued in a lawsuit that the fire-damaged, structurally condemned building had become a threat to public safety.
