Shelborne South Beach sold for $120 million
A joint venture group of King Street Real Estate, Westdale Properties and Cedar Capital Partners has acquired the Shelborne South Beach hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, for a total of $120 million. The hotel will continue to be managed by Menin Hospitality, according to a news release.
The property recently underwent an extensive renovation of its public spaces, ballroom, guestrooms and bar and lounge area.
“The Shelborne South Beach is a historic Miami Beach icon,” said Ben Leahy, partner at Cedar Capital Partners, in a news release. “As new owners, we look forward to maintaining the hotel’s grand reputation as one of the best places to stay in Miami Beach.”
Downtown Raleigh debuts its first indie hotel
In January, Raleigh, North Carolina, welcomed its first independent hotel with the Longleaf Hotel. Loden Properties transitioned a retro motor lodge into the 56-room hotel. It was designed by Maurer Architecture and Raleigh resident Joshua Gajownik.
The hotel is a located a block away from the Raleigh’s State Complex, which is where a museum, state legislature and Capitol are all located.
“The opening of The Longleaf Hotel ushers in a new era of hospitality in Downtown Raleigh,” said Russ Jones, partner at Loden Properties, in a news release. “This is the first independent property of its kind in the area, and we’ve assembled an expert team of locals who are personally invested in showcasing the best that Raleigh has to offer.”
California hotel unveils new name
Don and Rhonda Carano first purchased Vintners Inn in Santa Rosa, California, 20 years ago surrounded by 92 acres of vineyards. In February, it was announced the property was officially renamed Vintners Resort, “a full-service hospitality experience surrounded by 92 acres of vineyards, complete with a 78-room hotel,” according to a news release.
Along with the name change, a concierge was appointed for the resort and a new vineyard was debuted.
Openings, management, people on the move
- Christopher Carrillo has been appointed concierge of Vintners Resort in Santa Rosa, California.
- The 120-room Hi-Lo Hotel in Portland has named Dannel Christian as GM.
- Geronimo Hospitality Group has named Amy Isbell-Williams GM of the 140-room Bottleworks Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The Karol Hotel, featuring 123 guestrooms, has opened in Pinellas County, Florida, as the city’s first property in Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio. The Bullard Group is the owner and developer.
- Les Cactus, a 27-room boutique hotel in Palm Springs, California, opened on 15 February. The historic 1930s property was refurbished by Los Angeles-based hotelier Matthew Kurtz in partnership with local hoteliers Richard Crisman and Jeff Brock.
