It is often said that the hospitality industry isn’t overbuilt, it’s under-demolished. Several markets around the U.S. would benefit from reduced room inventory, and adaptive reuse can be utilized by real estate investors as a viable solution. Specifically, the conversion of hotel rooms to residences for the unhoused and shelters for migrants could help suppress supply growth while driving hotel performance.
