Tampa Hotel Sector Beats Pre-Pandemic Performance

Transient Demand Driving Strong Occupancy, Average Daily Rate Growth

In both April and May, Tampa hotels met or exceeded pre-pandemic levels of occupancy, average daily rate and revenue per available room, or RevPAR — industry standard metrics of hotel performance. Nationally, RevPAR is still down by about 20%, according to data from hospitality industry data firm STR, a CoStar Group company. To date, the only other large market in the Southern United States that has surpassed its pre-pandemic RevPAR is Miami.
