Arnold to Head Up Henry S. Miller Brokerage Group

Making good on his word to spark change, Henry S. Miller Cos. president and CEO Greg Miller tapped Dan Arnold as president and COO of the firm's brokerage group.

Arnold originally joined Henry S. Miller in 1970 as one of the first leasing brokers assigned to the 1.1 million-square-foot Bryan Tower in Dallas' CBD. He left the company in 1972 to start Swearingen Co., a privately-held commercial real estate firm where he would spend nearly 30 years leading its project leasing and tenant representation/corporate services divisions and ultimately serving as its president and COO.

Arnold rejoined Henry S. Miller in 2000 after selling his interest in Swearingen to lead the firm's corporate services division.


CBRE Hampton Roads Promotes Two

CBRE Hampton Roads has promoted Chris Kieran and Ricky Anderson to first vice president and vice president, respectively.

Kieran joined the firm in 2006 as a vice president of the leasing team. A 16-year industry veteran, he has worked at GVA Advantis as the director of office properties and at Olympia Development Corp. as director of leasing. He specializes in brokering office, flex, and medical space in Hampton Roads on behalf of tenants and landlords.

Anderson originally joined CBRE Hampton Roads in 2007 as part of its property management group before switching over to brokerage in 2009. He specializes in brokering lease and sale transactions on behalf of office and industrial owners.

Colliers International Hires New Senior Managing Director

Colliers International has expanded its healthcare services group in Philadelphia and has named Michael J. Sher as a senior managing director.

Sher has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare real estate and healthcare management industry. Prior to joining Colliers International, Sher was president of Med Realty Partners and served as vice president for real estate and facilities at Temple University Health System. Before that he worked as manager for strategic planning at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

"In this new role, Michael will play an integral part in expanding the company’s Healthcare services initiatives throughout the region, providing real estate and consulting services to health systems," said Doug Sayer, CEO of Colliers International in Philadelphia.


Cushman & Wakefield Establishes Southeast Retail Group

Former Cassidy Turley senior vice presidents and principals Mark Joines and Drew Fleming have joined Cushman & Wakefield to lead the retail investment sales practice in Atlanta.

Prior to joining Cassidy Turley, Joines served as a consultant at Accenture followed by a stretch with TriMont Real Estate Advisors where he managed office and retail properties as a senior associate. Fleming broke into the industry in 2003 as an associate with Marcus & Millichap, later transitioning to Shane Investment Property Group as a senior investment advisor before joining Cassidy Turkey's Jacksonville, FL office.

As senior directors, the pair will head up a group tasked with providing strategic investment services, including brokering acquisitions and dispositions of retail properties on behalf of investors. Rounding out the practice will be associate Tyler Anderson, marketing specialist Debbie Strom and financial analyst Stephany Peters.


Olmstead Joins Cushman & Wakefield Healthcare Group

George Olmstead joined Cushman & Wakefield as senior director and principal of the firm's healthcare practice group. Olmstead will manage and identify commercial opportunities throughout the Southeast U.S. with a focus on healthcare/medical office buildings.

In 2008 he founded Olmstead Realty, a healthcare brokerage firm where he provided leasing services to a number of healthcare clients including Resurgens Orthopaedics, Neurotrials Research, CMED LLC and the Advanced Urology Institute of Georgia. In 2013, he earned the CoStar Power Broker Award as the Top Office Leasing Broker in Atlanta.

Prior to establishing Olmstead Realty, Olmstead headed up the brokerage division as a partner at medical office building developer Korbo Property Services and spent seven years as assistant vice president at Cousins Properties.


Christensen Joins Suffolk Construction

Suffolk Construction has hired Joshua Christensen as its vice president of Florida West Coast operations. In his new role, Christensen will oversee day-to-day operations for the firm's operations in the region.

With more than 17 years of industry experience, Christensen formerly served with a large construction management firm, where he drove its growth in the education, commercial and multifamily sectors. Most recently he held the title of senior project executive, managing the successful pursuit of a $113 million project in Washington, D.C.

Christensen graduated from Florida State University with a degree in civil engineering.


E. Smith Realty Appoints VP

E. Smith Realty Partners has hired Saadia Sheikh as vice president. Based in Dallas, Sheikh will be responsible for tenant representation including renewals, expansion, site selection, general consultation and purchases.

Sheikh joins E. Smith Realty from Wingert Real Estate where she served as vice president. Before that, she was an associate at Hudson Peters Commercial, partnering with senior brokers to complete transactions.

Sheikh is currently president of The Red Group, where she consults and assists in site selection for multifamily and retail development. She is also involved in the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and the Junior League of Dallas. She received her CCIM in 2013 and is currently serving on the legislative committee for CCIM National.


Industry Veteran Tapped as VP Leasing & Marketing

Hackensack, NJ-based Alfred Sanzari Enterprises has selected industry veteran Stephen C. Jennings to join the firm as vice president of leasing and marketing. Jumping right into his position, he will be the point of contact for two Bergen County Properties moving forward: Court Plaza in Hackensack and Heights Plaza in Hasbrouck Heights.

With 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, Jennings brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He previously served as senior vice president at one of Central New Jersey’s leading commercial real estate firms, and before that spent seven years as director of leasing and property management for Brandywine Realty Trust, where he was responsible for managing a 1.5 million-square-foot portfolio in Central New Jersey.

Jennings said he is looking forward to "contributing to the growth and success" of Sanzari in the future.


UIP Asset Management Brings On van Zadel and Rapaport

UIP Asset Management, a subsidiary of Washington, D.C.-based UIP Cos., hired Michiel van Zadel and Will Rapaport from outside the company and internally promoted Jonathan Mayer (pictured, right).

Van Zadel will become the vice president of asset management and will focus on long-range fund and individual asset oversight. He previously worked at Bouwfonds Investment Management in the Netherlands.

Rapaport joins UIP as a director of acquisitions and will be responsible for the underwriting and presentation of potential acquisitions and assets. Prior to joining UIP, he worked at SL Green Realty Corp. of New York City as an associate in the investments group.

Mayer has been promoted to vice president of acquisitions and is responsible for providing leadership in sourcing and underwriting new investments, presenting analysis to senior management and working to build the capital stack for each investment. He has worked at UIP for nearly five years as a director of acquisitions.

The Hampshire Cos Hires New Senior Project Manager

Eric Helstrom, AIA, LEED AP has joined The Hampshire Companies as a senior project manager.

Senior vice president of architecture and construction at Chelsea Group, Inc. for the past 11 years, Helstrom will bring years of construction and development experience to his new position with Hampshire. At Chelsea he opened 7.5 million square feet of retail space.

Having received his bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic State University in architecture, Helstrom went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in real estate development at the University of Southern California School of Urban and Regional Planning. In addition, he is a LEED Accredited Professional and an active member of the America Institute of Architects (AIA), the USGBC and ICSC.

Following graduation, Helstrom built his career from the ground up, founding his own real estate consulting company, where he managed retail projects in Brazil, Asia and the U.S.


Lincoln Property Co. Promotes Gwaltney, Mandus

Lincoln Property Co. expanded its team of leasing associates with the promotions of George Gwaltney and Kelsey Mandus in Atlanta. The pair will join the office leasing team co-led by Michael Howell and Hunter Henritze.

Gwaltney, a graduate of the University of Alabama, interned with the company this summer. During that time, he assisted in leasing more than 50,000 square feet of flex industrial space in Stone Mountain, GA.

Mandus, who joined Lincoln a year ago, assisted the agency leasing teams before her promotion. Her previous work includes two years of sales and leasing experience at Signature Management.
