Governor George E. Pataki today announced that CoStar Group, a national commercial real estate information provider, is offering New York City businesses affected by the horrific attack at the World Trade Center access to its extensive database of New York area leasing brokers and available office properties in New York City. This assistance is being coordinated with the State's 1-800-I LOVE NY hotline.

"As part of our continuing commitment to helping businesses that were displaced or otherwise directly impacted by the attack, we have arranged access to this valuable database," Governor Pataki said. "We are deeply grateful for CoStar Group's generous offer to let New York companies capitalize on its resources, including detailed information on more than 90 percent of the office space currently available in the metropolitan area."

Costar Group's 650 researchers track billions of square feet of commercial real estate across the United States, including the New York metropolitan area, acting as an electronic information-clearing house for the country's commercial real estate professionals.

To access the database, users should visit the Empire State Development Web site at http://www.nylovesbiz.com and select the "NY Site Finder" link. Then, click on "World Trade Center Disaster Alternative Space Listings."

"New York Site Finder" was developed by Empire State Development (ESD) to facilitate the site selection process in New York State. In partnership with local and regional economic development agencies, utility companies, commercial realtors, and other economic development professionals, it also provides users with an extensive and current inventory of industrial sites and buildings.

CoStar Chief Executive Officer Andrew C. Florance said, "There are hundreds of New York businesses displaced that want and need new facilities. We are grateful to have the opportunity to donate our information resources to help them connect with New York's commercial real estate community and the thousands of alternative facilities available in New York City."

ESD Chairman Charles A. Gargano said, "CoStar Group's magnanimous offer of aid demonstrates the true spirit of American unity and assistance. I urge all New York City businesses affected by this great national tragedy to visit our Web site to look for alternative office space within New York."

As part of the State's economic recovery effort, Governor Pataki has designated the 1-800-I LOVE NY (800-456-8369) toll-free phone number for businesses and companies displaced or otherwise directly impacted by the attack to acquire business assistance information.

The number provides callers access to assistance services offered by State agencies including Empire State Development, Insurance Department, Banking Department, Department of Labor, Office for Real Property Services, Department of State, Power Authority, Public Service Commission, Department of Taxation and Finance, and the federal Small Business Administration. The Governor has directed ESD to coordinate and lead these agencies' relief efforts.

Businesses may gain relocation information and other services by contacting 1-800-I LOVE NY. Phone lines are now open and will operate Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
