Yelp Selects Downtown D.C. for Site of New East Coast Hub

Crowd-Sourced Review Site Signs 52,000-SF Lease in Penn Quarter, Expects to Add 500 Employees Following March Move-In
August 8, 2017
Yelp (NYSE: YELP) signed an 11-year lease for 52,703 square feet at 575 7th St. NW in Washington, D.C. where the popular online customer reviews site out of San Francisco will establish a new East Coast hub.

The 11-story building totaling 516,433 square feet was built in 2003 as part of Terrell Place in the entertainment hub of Penn Quarter in East End. Renovated in 2016, the property is located directly across the street from the Verizon Center, home of the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the Arena Football League's Washington Valor, and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics.

Yelp, which will occupy the entire fifth and seventh floors, will join such tenants as Prudential and AARP in the building. The company plans to move into its space in March 2018, creating 500 new sales and marketing positions in the process.

Trip Howell, Tom Golsen, Kate Griffin, Melissa Cramer and Amy Bowser of JLL represented the landlord, Beacon Capital Partners, in negotiations.
