WiredScore Signs Up KingSett

New York-Based Company to Rate 65 Buildings in Canada
January 30, 2018
WiredScore says Toronto-based private equity real estate firm KingSett Capital has agreed to let its Canadian portfolio be part of the New York-based company's connectivity rating system.

Launched in Canada in October, 2017, WiredScore now says 65 buildings are part of its certification program in the country.

“We started with KingSett when we launched with Scotia Plaza (in downtown Toronto) and they came back and inked 13 additional buildings in December which includes all of their downtown Toronto buildings in their core fund and two of the first buildings we have signed up in Ottawa," said Phil Kanfer, North American director of business development with WiredScore.

The certification, which landlords pay for on a square foot basis, is designed to rate connectivity infrastructure. There are five ratings including, non-certified, certified, silver, gold and platinum.

"Canada has been one of the fastest starts to date, attributed to the demand the marketplace is seeing from tech tenants and tenants overall drilling down onto to technology and telecom needs,” said Kanfer. “Owners have realized they need to position their buildings to cater to what tenants say and telecom and technology are top three when tenants are looking for space."

The company has 11 buildings listed on its site but WiredScore is in the process of rating the rest of the buildings in Canada. Of the buildings rated, 10 have been listed as platinum with only 4711 Yonge St. falling to gold status.

Bentall Kennedy advised KingSett on the deal.
