WPT Industrial Promotes Cimino to Chief Operating Officer

WPT Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust promoted longtime executive Matthew J. Cimino, adding chief operating officer to his roles as general counsel and secretary of the Toronto-based REIT. Cimino will continue to report to CEO Scott Frederiksen.

Formed in 2013 when Welsh Property Trust rolled its expanded U.S. industrial portfolio into a new real estate investment trust externally managed by Welsh Property Trust, WPT Industrial's portfolio includes 46 properties consisting of approximately 15 million square feet of gross leasable area located in 12 U.S. states.

Cimino joined the Welsh organization in 2007. He is also a member of the board of managers and serves as the general counsel of Welsh and of WPT Capital, overseeing all legal operations including securities matters, corporate governance compliance, litigation and the structuring and negotiation of all joint ventures, private placements, acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing.

Prior to his appointment as general counsel, Cimino served as Welsh's senior corporate counsel, with primary responsibility for all legal aspects of Welsh’s leasing, acquisition and disposition transactions.

Cimino, who currently serves as the chairman of the NAIOP National Forum for Real Estate Law and Transactions, earned his law degree from Creighton University School of Law and a bachelor of science degree from Montana State University.
