ViaWest Acquires Blackhawk Corporate Center in Phoenix

Local Investment Firm Pays $34.3 Million for 252,000-SF Office Complex

ViaWest Group acquired the 252,350-square-foot Blackhawk Corporate Center in Phoenix from Cohen Equities, a vertically integrated investment and management company based in New York, for $34.25 million, or approximately $136 per square foot.

The three-building office park at 20401 N. 29th Ave. and 2902 and 3010 W. Agua Fria Fwy. delivered in 1997 and 1998. Major tenants in Blackhawk Corporate Center include California Casualty, Texas Back Institute, Heritage Interiors and Cox Communications.

ViaWest, a Phoenix-based commercial real estate investment, development and services firm, has been involved in more than $1 billion of acquisitions since its inception in 2003.

Darren Tappen and Peter Beauchamp, senior vice presidents of Kidder Mathews, along with Ryan Timpani, senior vice president of Colliers International, represented the seller, which acquired the office park October 2015 for nearly $27.46 million.

The buyer has retained Timpani to handle the leasing efforts for the 68 percent occupied Blackhawk Corporate Center.
