Urban Innovations, a Chicago-based real estate development firm, promoted Monica Makin to vice president of acquisitions and asset management. Makin will head up both divisions within the company’s affordable housing sector.
Makin first joined Urban in 2011 as vice president of asset management, responsible for both the affordable housing acquisition and management teams. Her current focus is on the Midwest, with the hope of expansion opportunities for Urban and the possibility of diversifying the company's portfolio.
Prior to Urban, Makin served as the national director of asset management for National Fund Equity and the vice president of asset management for Homestead Capital in Portland, OR.
Makin received her J.D. from the University of Oregon, School of Law and became a member of the Oregon State Bar in 1993. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany.
