Transwestern promoted 17-year company veteran and current board of directors member Eric Johnson to the newly created position of executive managing director of the firm's national healthcare platform.
In his new role, Johnson will implement strategies and cultivate best practices to improve services catered towards Transwestern's clients in the healthcare, life sciences and biotechnology sectors. As a national leader for Transwestern’s healthcare practice, he will also enhance multi-market synergies for clients.
"Transwestern is well-positioned to provide multi-market real estate services, which are more in demand as consolidation continues among healthcare providers," said Johnson.
Johnson has recently stood at the helm of Transwestern's 12-member Houston healthcare investment sales group, which in the past three years has closed 23 medical assets totaling 1.3 million square feet of hospitals, surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and general purpose medical office buildings. The cumulative value of these transactions exceeds $340 million.
A 21-year industry veteran, Johnson's clientele includes a number of institutional owners including Health Care Properties Inc., Healthcare Trust of America Inc., Lillibridge, Memorial Hermann Health System and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System/CHI. Since 2008, he has closed more than 500 medical, brokerage and lease transactions for clients such as Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, University of Texas Health Science Services and Kelsey Seybold Clinic.
Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Texas.
