Strategic Property Partners Proposes 26-Story Luxury Hotel in Downtown Tampa

Renovations Underway at Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina
February 5, 2018
Strategic Property Partners LLC proposed a new location for the JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, a planned 519-unit hotel set to rise in the Water Street Tampa community beginning next month in Tampa, FL.

The project would be located between the Tampa Convention Center and the Amalie Arena, home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. Delivery of the hotel is tentatively scheduled for 2020.

When completed, it is expected to have 30,000 square feet of space designated for the largest hotel ballroom in Tampa Bay, and would offer guests a full-service spa and fitness center on the sixth floor, a swimming pool and event lawn, and a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

SPP also has renovations currently underway for the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, located immediately adjacent to the proposed hotel site. The newly-renovated, 727-unit hotel overlooking the Garrison Channel will combine with the new JW Marriott Hotel & Resort, offering more than 1,246 rooms and an additional 150,000 square feet of event space. The renovations are expected to be completed as early as 2019.

The two hotels are an important addition to the Water Street Tampa community, which is currently being developed by Strategic Property Partners LLC.

"We are incredibly excited to extend our partnership with Marriott International, bring the JW Marriott brand to Water Street Tampa and significantly enhance the hospitality offerings in downtown Tampa," said SPP CEO James Nozar. "Not only are we bringing a new luxury hotel to the neighborhood, we are also reinvesting in the Marriott Waterside Tampa to create a one-of-a-kind hospitality experience for everyone to enjoy, with dynamic outdoor amenities seamlessly connected to the Tampa Riverwalk and adjacent marina."

Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates designed the proposed JW Marriott Tampa Hotel & Resort, while interiors are being done by Champalimaud Design.
