Site Work Begins For $250 Million Texas Live! Stadium Entertainment District

First Phase of Dining, Entertainment and Hotel Project Scheduled for Completion in 2018
October 24, 2016
The Cordish Companies will break ground this week on the opening phase of Texas Live!, located between Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers, and AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The $250 million first phase of Texas Live! will bring over 3,000 new jobs and 3 million new visitors to Arlington when the project opens in 2018. The Rangers have also proposed a $1 billion new stadium with a retractable roof, contingent on Nov. 8 voter approval of $500 million in public financing.

The project will include 200,000 square feet of dining and entertainment space, a 5,000-capacity outdoor event pavilion, a 300-room full-service convention hotel and a 35,000-square-foot meeting and convention facility.

The dining and entertainment portion of the project will open in the spring of 2018 with the Rangers’ opening day. The hotel/convention facility will open in the fall of 2018.

The Texas Rangers selected The Cordish Cos. to co-develop the project last December.

The Rangers had hoped to start the project in November to account for an extended post season, but the team was eliminated from the playoffs earlier this month by the Toronto Blue Jays, who were bounced by the Cleveland Indians in their march to the World Series, which begins against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday in Cleveland.

"We were obviously hoping that a few more October games would delay this for a little longer," Rob Matwick, Rangers executive vice president for business operations, said in a statement.
