Peter Simel has joined Colliers International as a managing director, continuing the firm's expansion of its New York City operations.
Simel previously served as a senior managing director for Handler Real Estate Services. Before that he worked as a vice president for the former CB Richard Ellis for nine years. Prior to beginning his commercial real estate
career, Simel founded PHD, Inc., a multi-line showroom that imported leading European fashion brands, and the Laundry Industry store in SoHo.
"Peter is well-known in the industry for his extensive market knowledge and exceptional client service, which has allowed him to develop strong, long-term relationships with clients and local owners over his more than 13 years in corporate real estate," said Joseph Harbert, president of Colliers International’s eastern region. "His proven track-record of success in New York and work for prestigious clients makes him a great addition to the Colliers team."
Some of Simel's notable transactions include Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld's disposition and acquisition of 590 Madison Ave. and the Steinway Building, a 25-year lease for Bergdorf Goodman at 625 Madison, and a 45,000-square-foot lease for Investec Ernst & Co. at the Chrysler Building.
