The Richman Group Development Corp., responsible for the development of more than 20,000 rental units since 1987, has established a California division with a new office in La Jolla, and has named multifamily developer Luke Daniels as president of the newly-created The Richman Group of California Development Company LLC.
In his new role, Daniels will lead the office in the development of design-driven luxury rental residential properties as well as workforce and affordable housing projects in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties. The firm will focus on mid-rise projects in mature suburban markets.
Daniels most recently served as managing director for Trammell Crow Residential's western division, where he managed a team responsible for more than 2,000 units and oversaw acquisition, entitlements, procurement of equity and debt capital, and development. Before that he was development director at GLJ Partners, prior to its merger with Trammell Crow in 2012. He also held positions at CLB Partners in San Diego, Intracorp San Diego, and K Street Construction.
"We’re delighted to have Luke Daniels head up our California operations. He has led the development team for a number of trophy projects in Southern California, including the 244-unit, mixed-use Stella in Marina del Rey, the 14-story Park Laurel overlooking San Diego’s Balboa Park, and 1Mission in San Diego, which was honored by PCBC with the Gold Nugget Grand Award for best mixed-use project in the Western United States," noted Kristin Miller, president of The Richman Group. "He is a creative dealmaker, skilled negotiator, and hands-on developer who is able to maintain the big picture while handling myriad details."
Daniels earned his bachelor's degree in urban planning and real estate development from the University of Southern California.
