Real Estate Advisor Leaves C&W for Senior Director Role at Avison Young

New York Office Recruits Sznip to Develop New Strategies for Streamlining Transaction Costs

Erik Sznip has joined Avison Young as a senior director with the firm’s commercial real estate division in New York City.

In his new role, Sznip will be responsible for providing consulting services including the development of portfolio and occupancy strategies that reduce transaction costs. He will also focus on minimizing the accounting and tax ramifications of commercial real estate deals undertaken by the firm.

"Erik Sznip has a depth of advisory and financial expertise that is so critical to analyzing, negotiating and consummating deals," said A. Mitti Liebersohn, president with Avison Young and managing director of the firm’s New York City office. "We expect him to make strong contributions to Avison Young and further build our client relationships and leadership in the New York market."

Sznip brings more 10 years of commercial real estate experience as a consultant in the financial sector, with a focus on financial modeling and lease negotiations. Prior to joining Avison Young, Sznip worked at Cushman & Wakefield for eight years as a senior director in the firm’s New York-based Strategic Advisory Group. He also led workflow for the firm’s Strategic Consulting Group.

Before that, Sznip spent nearly five years with Colliers International’s New York office, where he provided business development and quantitative support on property transactions for a client list that included GE, Honeywell, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and TIAA, among others. In addition he was involved in business development, RFPs, property and market due diligence and assisting in lease negotiations.

"Given Avison Young’s rapid growth, there is tremendous opportunity to expand on the financial advisory services offered to clients," added Sznip. "I will seek to further optimize transactions, building on the firm’s financial and qualitative services and providing strategic support to deal making."

Sznip received his MBA and a bachelor's degree in political science and government from the University of Colorado.
