Fort Myers Preparatory & Fitness Academy leased a 65,190 square foot former Robb & Stucky showroom and warehouse facility at 4740 S. Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers, FL from Normark Investments, Inc.
Fort Myers Prep plans to remodel the old furniture showroom and two-story warehouse into its new school location with thirty-three classrooms,
office space, cafeteria and athletic facilities. The charter school is planning for increased enrollment for their upcoming 2012 school year and needed more space to accommodate its growth. The charter school focuses on athletics with academics and requires every student to be involved in a sport. The new facility will devote approximately 40 percent of its space to the athletic program.
Robb & Stucky Furniture was liquidating its assets after declaring bankruptcy under Chapter 11 in 2011. The building sits on 7.6 acres close to the South Cleveland Avenue and Colonial Boulevard intersection just behind South Plaza shopping center and was originally built in 1981.
