Danny Nikitas has taken on the role of managing director for Avison Young's Chicago office.
Nikitas previously was executive vice president of leasing for with MB Real Estate. He has been involved in more than 500 lease deals totaling 4.5 million square feet of office space in the Chicago area throughout his career.
Nikitas's new position will oversee daily operations in the Avison Young Chicago office, along with working to expand the firm's presence in the Midwest.
Nikitas replaces Michael McKiernan, the firm's former managing director in Chicago. After spending the past five years in that role, McKiernan will move into a senior production position focusing on the industrial sector, representing national and regional clients of Avison Young.
Nikitas spent the last seven years at MB Real Estate, where he was also an executive committee member, leading the company's business development program while sourcing third-party management and leasing opportunities, tenant-representation assignments and potential equity investments. Before moving to MB Real Estate, he was an executive vice president of leasing for Chicago-based Prime Group Realty Trust.
His long career also includes stints as senior vice president of leasing with Shorenstein Realty Services and director of leasing for TrizecHahn Office Properties' Chicago portfolio. Before entering the commercial real estate industry, he played professional basketball in Greece.
