Neiman Marcus Signs On to Anchor Shops at Hudson Yards

250,000-SF Flagship Location Will Be Brand's First in New York City
September 4, 2014
Neiman Marcus Group, Inc. has announced plans to open a flagship store at Hudson Yards in Manhattan's West Side. The 250,000-square-foot, three-story, flagship Neiman Marcus store is scheduled to open in 2018, and will mark the brand's entry into the New York City market.

Neiman Marcus will anchor the proposed 1 million-square-foot Shops at Hudson Yards. The store, with multiple access points and a dedicated entrance on 10th Ave. near the High Line, will offer customers a mix of luxury and fashion brands as well as views of a vast public plaza and meeting space, as well as the Culture Shed - the planned home of New York Fashion Week.

"Neiman Marcus Group is delighted to announce that Manhattan will have its first Neiman Marcus," exclaimed Karen Katz, president and chief executive officer of Neiman Marcus Group. "Hudson Yards presents the ideal location for a Neiman Marcus store. The project is a bold and innovative retail idea and one that complements how we view our Neiman Marcus Brand."

The 28-acre Hudson Yards is currently in development by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group. When completed, it will include more than 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space, home to more than 100 shops and restaurants, 5,000 homes, 14 acres of public and cultural space, a public school, and a 175-room luxury hotel.

In addition to the Shops at Hudson Yards, which will bring the finest fashion brands in global retail starting in 2018, the estimated 24 million visitors to Hudson Yards annually will also enjoy The Kitchens at Hudson Yards - an urban food hall, and The Restaurants at Hudson Yards, offering an assortment of chef-driven restaurants. Above the retail section will be the city's highest indoor/outdoor observation deck, with glass-floored panoramic views.

Stephen M. Ross, chairman of Related Companies said, "Neiman Marcus is an innovative, world-class brand that has long understood and embraced the intersection of art, culture and retailing, making them an ideal fit for Hudson Yards. Under the leadership of Karen Katz, their inaugural New York City store is destined to be a unique, modern shopping experience unrivaled in the United States."

The largest private real estate development in U.S. history, sitting between the High Line and Midtown, will be accessible with commuter rail, subway, the West Side Highway and Lincoln Tunnel, Hudson River ferries, and Penn Station and the Grand Central Terminal. Construction on 10 Hudson Yards and the South Tower began in December 2012, and the entire Eastern Rail Yards and 30 Hudson Yards will be complete in 2018 as well.
