ModCloth Finds Room To Grow in Crafton

Online Fashion Retailer Relocating To Former Roomful Express Facility at 2250 Roswell Dr.
August 10, 2011
Online fashion retailer ModCloth finalized a lease with Rugby Realty Co. to occupy more than 140,000 square feet in the former Roomful Express facility at 2250 Roswell Dr. in Crafton, PA.

The move will enable the company to bring together its fulfillment center currently located at Gateway View Plaza in the South Side, and its corporate offices currently located in the Strip District. Maurice Ades, managing partner at Rugby Realty, an affiliated entity of the landlord, negotiated the lease deal.

The company currently has about 130 employees in Pittsburgh and occupies 68,000 square feet of space between its fulfillment warehouse in the West End and its offices in Strip District.

The new location is a mostly vacant 533,110-square-foot former Roomful Express distribution center. ModCloth said it expects to double the size of its current fulfillment center to approximately 100,000 square feet and an additional 40,000 square feet for offices.

"We've been looking at places in Pittsburgh that will allow us to consolidate our office and fulfillment center to one location with enough room to expand," said the firm's Scott Casciato, vice president and general manager of ModCloth's Pittsburgh operations. "This facility gives us space to grow as our business grows, and it will unite our whole Pittsburgh team under one roof again."

The husband and wife team of Susan Gregg Koger and Eric Koger started ModCloth during the summer before they entered Carnegie Mellon University in 2002. The company has since grown from Susan’s dorm room to being named the second-fastest growing private company in America and America’s Fastest Growing Retailer by Inc. Magazine.

Last summer, the firm secured Series B funding in a round led by Accel Partners. The company has more than 240 employees in three locations. In addition to Pittsburgh, ModCloth's headquarters in San Francisco opened in May 2010 and that summer it opened a Los Angeles office to support its supply chain operations.
