Piedmont Signs Letter-of-Intent With Software Firm at 200 E. Randolph
Microsoft Corp. signed a letter-of-intent for a long-term, 75,000-square-foot lease at 200 E. Randolph St., also known as the Aon Center. The firm will relocate from 77 W. Wacker and will expand by nearly 30,000 square feet. This proposed new location will serve as the firm’s headquarters for the Midwest District, which is comprised of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
Midwest District General Manager Janet Kennedy said that they are "delighted with this expanded space, which will allow our current staff, which exceeds 700 employees in the Chicagoland area, to continue to grow and serve the customers and partners throughout the Midwest District. She also said that: "Chicago is an acknowledged global center for technology innovation, and Microsoft is proud to be an integral part of the dynamic area. Our commitment to the community has never been stronger."
Owned by Norcross, GA-based Piedmont Office Realty Trust, the Aon Center offers views of the city, Lake Michigan and Millennium Park. Building amenities include the Mid America Club, Café 200, a 25,000-square-foot, full-service multistation dining facility and a 243-seat auditorium with audio-visual system. The building is also directly linked to the Fairmont Hotel, a four-star hotel, and the seven-story Lakeshore Athletic Club from the lower lobby. With this transaction, occupancy at the Aon Center would be more than 90%.
