Thayer Lodging Group, a privately held hotel investment company based in Annapolis, MD, purchased The Marriott Del Mar at 11966 El Camino Real in San Diego, CA for $66 million, or about $232,000 per room.
The 284-room hotel was built in 2002 on a 1.8-acre parcel. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, outdoor pool and whirlpool and The Aterra Restaurant and Outdoor Lounge. There are 14 meeting rooms with a total of 12,078 square feet of combined meeting space.
James Patrick of Hodges Ward Elliott, Inc. in Atlanta represented the sellers, Sunstone Hotel Partnership LLC. This was one of three hotels that Sunstone has sold, the other two were the Doubletree Guest Suites in Minneapolis and the Marriott Troy in Michigan.
