Mack Real Estate Group (MREG), a real estate investment enterprise founded this year by members of the Mack family, hired Barden Gale to serve as vice chairman and member of its investment committee.
Prior to joining MREG, Gale served as the CEO of JER Partners, a firm he joined in 2009 after a stint as vice chairman of real estate for Starwood Capital Group. He has also worked as CIO for Real Estate at ABP Investments U.S., Inc., the investment arm of Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP (now APG), and held several investment banking positions at Salomon Brothers in London and New York and at Nesbitt Burns Securities, also in New York.
Gale is currently involved with a number of organizations, including serving as a member of the Property Investment Committee of the National Pension Reserve Fund of Ireland and as a member of the Development Council of St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University and is on the Board of Directors for the Shoshana Foundation, Inc. Gale received his B.A. from Union College, his M.A. from the University of London, and his J.D. from Columbia University.
Headquartered in New York, MREG has offices in Los Angeles and Seattle through its Mack Urban affiliate, and anticipates opening a London office in 2014.
The company recently completed the development of 50 North 5th St., a luxury rental project in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, and through Mack Urban acquired a six-acre development site in the South Park district of downtown Los Angeles in partnership with AECOM Capital, which will be developed as a multifamily rental project.
