Liquid Realty Partners Launched

Liquid Realty Partners Announces Launch into Secondary Market Acquisitions
April 23, 2002
Liquid Realty Partners, the only investment firm dedicated exclusively to acquiring interests in private real estate funds and limited partnerships in the secondary market, has announced its launch. Liquid Realty named Bryon T. Sheets a strategic advisor. Sheets is a partner of Paul Capital Partners, a private equity secondary firm.

"The secondary market for real estate partnership interests is likely to explode over the next 24 months, much the way it has for other types of private equity," says Mark Berman, co-general partner of Liquid Realty. "While institutional investors have many liquidity options for secondary sales of their other private equity interests, they currently have very few options for their private real estate fund investments. We formed Liquid Realty Partners to serve this growing marketplace need."

Liquid Realty provides early liquidity to institutional investors-banks, pension funds, foreign institutions, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, trusts-and individuals seeking to exit passive, illiquid real estate fund and partnership holdings. The company is currently acquiring portfolios from $2 million to $250 million, and is in talks with institutions regarding the acquisition of two significant pools of opportunistic real estate fund interests.

Scott M. Landress and Mark L. Berman, general partners of Liquid Realty, formed the firm in 2001. Landress was formerly the global head of real estate investment banking at Bank of America. Berman was the founding partner of Trinad Partners, a private equity investment firm.
