With the promotions of Greg O’Brien (above) to CEO of its Americas region and John Gates to lead its Markets business, the two former Staubach Co. executives assume key positions in Jones Lang LaSalle's leadership team.
Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL) named the current CEO of its Markets Solutions division and former Staubach Co. CEO Greg O'Brien as its new Chief Executive Officer, Americas. He will report directly to Colin Dyer, President and CEO of JLL. In his new role, O'Brien will take over responsibility for all the Americas business.

O'Brien replaces former Americas CEO Lauralee Martin, who left JLL in October 2013 to become the CEO of HCP, Inc. Taking over for O'Brien as the head of the Americas Markets business will be John Gates, another former Staubach executive, who will oversee the firm's brokerage, capital markets, project and development services, property management and retail business sectors across the United States.

O'Brien will now head the firm's Americas Executive Committee (AEC), which sets strategic direction for the region, and will join the company's Global Executive Board.

In his previous role as CEO, Markets Solutions, O'Brien led the organization's businesses responsible for more than 60 percent of Americas revenue while expanding through organic growth and the acquisition of its brokerage, capital markets, industrial, project and development services, property management and retail groups.

Before that, O'Brien served as CEO, Brokerage, where he increased broker productivity and drove revenue growth to more than $730 million in 2012. He was the CEO of The Staubach Company in 2008 when it merged with Jones Lang LaSalle.

"As a member of our Americas leadership for many years, Greg has been a key contributor to setting the Americas strategy and driving its execution through our businesses," said Dyer. "Drawing on his deep experience and impressive results as a leader of multiple businesses and in his direct work with clients, he will be able to drive productive growth throughout the Americas by continuing to implement the long-term strategies set in place over the last year."

Gates previously held the role of President of Real Estate Services, Americas. Before that he was President of Brokerage, Americas and Director of Markets West, and was also the President and COO of The Staubach Company.

O'Brien holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with a bachelor's in electrical engineering. Gates earned his MBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor's in economics / finance from Trinity University.
