Jersey Mike's Subs Bolsters Real Estate Team

Planning Aggressive Growth in Northeast, Central U.S.

Jersey Mike’s Subs is on a roll, beefing up its real estate team in advance of its aggressive expansion plans this year, according to the Manasquan, NJ-based chain.

The company has hired Paul Williams as director of real estate for South Central markets and Cortney Rickle as director of real estate in the Northeast.

Jersey Mike’s opened 170 stores last year, and plans to develop more than 200 this year, in addition to continuing to search for additional sites for franchisees across the country, according to the chain. A new location is opening later this week in Dover, NJ.

The new executives, Rickle and Williams, will be part of that expansion effort. They, along with Jersey Mike's entire real estate team, will be meeting with retail professionals at the ICSC RECon Global Retail Real Estate Convention next week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Williams’s background is in restaurant and retail real estate, most recently serving as a real estate manager for Jack in the Box Inc., where he led corporate and franchise real estate development in a six-state territory for the Jack in the Box and Qdoba Mexican Grill brands.

Before that, Williams was a development manager for Dunkin' Brands in several markets throughout Texas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Lubbock. In his new role, Williams will drive Jersey Mike's development in the South Central area of the nation.

Rickle comes to Jersey Mike's after spending six years with Paramount Realty Services Inc. as a leasing agent, where she specialized in leasing to new franchisees and regional tenants in New Jersey. Her experience in retail real estate, as well as her knowledge of the franchising industry, will bolster efforts to drive Jersey Mike's development throughout the Northeast, the company said in a press release.

The two hires follow Jersey Mike's recent additions to the franchise sales team. In March, the business added senior franchise sales executives Stephen Sweetman and Corby Cronin to help lead franchise development efforts nationwide.

"Our goal in 2018 is to continue the explosive growth and momentum that Jersey Mike's experienced last year," Jersey Mike's Senior Vice President of Real Estate Mike Parkhill said in a statement. "We are focused on securing 300 quality sites for our franchise partners in the coming year, and look forward to meeting with retail real estate professionals at this year's RECon Convention to help assist us with our site selection."

Jersey Mike’s, a fast-casual sandwich chain, currently has more than 1,500 locations open and under development. It was founded at the Jersey Shore in 1956, and offers customers hot and cold sandwiches on fresh-baked bread.
