Local developer Akridge secured international law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman to a 10-year lease for 105,681 square feet in the
office building currently under construction at 1200 17th St. in Washington, DC.
Pillsbury Winthrop will relocate from Teachers Retirement System of Illinois' 287,651-square-foot property at 2300 N St. NW and move to the new building in January 2015.
Mitsui Fudosan America partnered with Akridge last summer to buy and develop the site on 17th Street. The future 11-story structure will total 168,769 square feet of
office space in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. The property is now 62.6 percent leased and is due to deliver by June 2014.
Pillsbury Winthrop's deal includes the top six floors plus
retail space on the first floor. The building is being built according to green standards and will feature a fully equipped fitness facility, as well as an expansive rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
Greg Tomasso and Ben Meisel of Akridge represented the landlord. Lois Zambo, David Lipson and Tyler Bensten of Studley represented the tenant.
