Going Vertical, Mixed-Use Project Looks to Team Who Oversaw The Battery

A landmark metro Atlanta mixed-use project now going vertical just tapped a new team to manage development through completion.

RocaPoint Partners said this week it selected JLL Southeast Central's Project and Development Services (PDS) to oversee the construction and development of its Halcyon mini-city under way just north of Alpharetta in Forsyth County. The JLL team, comprising Brian Terrell, Mike Hall, Ron Grunwald, Mike Trost, Tasiana Wells and Troy Nixon, recently worked with the Atlanta Braves to successfully deliver SunTrust Park and The Battery, the adjacent mixed-use development.

JLL Retail already represents RocaPoint and The Georgetown Co. on the retail leasing front.

JLL's Hall, who played a key role in development of The Battery, said Halcyon is "a destination with a revolutionary role in Forsyth" because it will bring experiential mixed-use to the county. "The attention to connectivity and transformation is similar to The Battery," Hall said. "Our team is coming in at a crucial point of the development. We are moving full speed toward the grand opening."

Currently rising at GA 400 and McFarland Parkway, Halcyon is slated to open in the spring of 2019.

Forsyth County, the fastest-growing county in Georgia from 2010-2015, has been a bedroom community with only minimal office and small-scale retail development. Halcyon will change that. It will comprise 480,000 square feet of office and retail space, a luxury movie theater, two hotels - including an Embassy Suites - and 690 residential units.

Halcyon said it expects to announce its first office tenants soon.

"After working with JLL Atlanta on Halcyon's lucrative retail and office leasing efforts, they were the obvious partner as we move forward with the development," RocaPoint Principal Patrick Leonard said. "The PDS team has managed notable projects throughout the region, and with Halcyon, we're all looking ahead to delivering a community where residents and visitors can share meaningful experiences."
