Foxconn Selects Northwestern Mutual Bldg in Downtown Milwaukee

Office Complex to Serve as HQ for Foxconn’s Wisconsin Operations and its $10B Manufacturing Plant
February 8, 2018
Foxconn, the Taiwan-based supplier of iPhones and other electronic devices that made headlines last year when it selected Wisconsin for the location of its first U.S. manufacturing facility, has agreed to purchase a seven-story office building in downtown Milwaukee from Northwestern Mutual for an undisclosed price.

The 109,093-square-foot property will serve as Foxconn’s headquarters for its operations in Wisconsin and its $10 billion planned manufacturing facility. Northwestern Mutual sold its office building at 611 E. Wisconsin Ave. in conjunction to its relocation to the 1.1 million-square-foot Tower and Commons facility, located a few blocks away at 800 E. Wisconsin Ave.

"Beyond the $10 billion investment that will require up to 10,000 workers to build, creating this new headquarters in downtown Milwaukee is part of the Foxconn Bonus building across the state,” noted Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in a release.

“We are excited to have selected an excellent location for Foxconn Place - the headquarters for our important operations in Wisconsin and the Wisconn Valley Innovation Center,” Louis Woo, special assistant to Foxconn’s CEO Terry Gou, said in a statement. “This is a major milestone in Foxconn’s plans to build a world-class advanced manufacturing campus that will create significant high-value job opportunities and an extreme supply chain supporting our project in Wisconsin."
