Fox Television Completes Deal to Move Studios, Offices to Downtown Bethesda

Local TV Affiliate Agrees to 16-Year Lease for 59,172 SF at Carr Properties' Mixed-use Project; Lease to Commence in June 2021
August 2, 2018
After more than 60 years in Washington, D.C., Fox Television is officially leaving its offices at 5151 Wisconsin Ave. NW for Carr Properties' brand new mixed-use development in downtown Bethesda, MD.

Fox, which broadcasts locally as Fox 5 WTTG and Fox 20 WDCA, agreed to a 16-year lease for 59,172 square feet at 7272 Wisconsin Ave., a 361,609-square-foot, 23-story high-rise known as The Wilson. The local Fox affiliate will relocate its operations and studio facilities for WTTG and WDCA to the building in June 2021.

The media group announced in September it was working on a deal to relocate from its longtime D.C. offices to the 937,000-square-foot mixed-use development at 7272 Wisconsin, at the time stating it would build out 57,500 square feet of studio, newsroom and office space.

Fox expects to relocate approximately 200 employees to Carr's development, which will include The Elm apartment tower and a shared above- and below-grade parking facility. The Plaza in front of The Wilson will also house a new entrance to the Bethesda Red Line Metro Station and a station on the planned Bethesda Purple Line.

Art Greenberg, Bie Chu Lee and Kelly Givens of Savills Studley negotiated the lease for Fox.

“With this move, Fox becomes one of the first companies to relocate from Washington, D.C., to Maryland in a long time,” said Greenberg. “Bethesda is one of the tightest real estate submarkets in the region. More than half of The Wilson has been committed prior to delivery and the site offers unbelievable access and visibility.”
