Dorsey & Whitney Renews 250,000-SF HQ Lease in Minneapolis

15 Year Office Deal at Fifty South Sixth Commences in 2016

Dorsey & Whitney LLP, a law firm headquartered in Minneapolis, signed a 15-year lease renewal for approximately 250,000 square feet in the Fifty South Sixth office building at 50 S. Sixth St. in Minneapolis, MN.

The lease is a renewal that will commence in 2016 and will see the tenant staying in the building through 2031. The tenant has held its headquarters in the building since it delivered in 2001, and as a result of the renewal will be restacking its occupancy to gain better space efficiency on the upper floors.

The 29-story, 698,606-square-foot, 4-Star office building sits on 1.1 acres in the city's CBD. It occupies a coveted location in Hennepin County, and in 2013 received LEED EB Gold certification, Energy Star certification, a BOMA 360 Performance Program Award, and a TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) award.

"Hines has a long-standing relationship with Dorsey dating back to 1978 when they signed a lease at Pillsbury Center (now U.S. Bank Plaza) - Hines’ first development in Minneapolis - and we are pleased to continue that relationship well into the future at Fifty South Sixth," commented Hines managing director Steve Luthman.

Jim Damiani, Nils Snyder, Mike Brehm, and Bob Chodos with Colliers International represented the tenant. Hines’ Bob Pfefferle and Sargent Johnson represented the landlord, Hines Global REIT, Inc. in-house.
