Dollar General to Build New 1 Million-SF Distribution Center in Longview

Discount Retailer's Second Facility in Texas to Service 1,000 DG Locations, Create 400 New Jobs
December 28, 2017
Dollar General Corp. (NYSE: DG) will build a brand new build-to-suit distribution center in Longview, TX to service roughly 1,000 Dollar General locations throughout Texas and the greater Southeast region, the company announced Wednesday.

Working with Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the city of Longview, the Longview Economic Development Corp. and officials of Gregg County, the nearly one million-square-foot facility is scheduled to break ground in early 2018 once all governmental and developmental permits have been approved.

Upon its completion, the complex is expected to create roughly 400 new jobs in Gregg County, in addition to the hundreds of construction jobs that will be associated with its development.

“Dollar General is excited to expand our supply chain and distribution operations in the Lone Star state with today’s announcement,” said Todd Vasos, CEO of Dollar General. “This facility is expected to support Dollar General’s growing store count in Texas where we already operate more than 1,400 current locations and have complementary operations in San Antonio."

The discount retailer out of Goodlettsville, TN opened its first Texas distribution center in San Antonio last year, and operates 15 distribution facilities nationwide with a 16th facility currently under construction in Amsterdam, NY.

Dollar General has named Clayco general contractor for the Longview project. Leo A. Daly will serve as the architectural engineering firm, while Elan Design has been named the civil engineering firm.
