Demolition Begins on 2.9 Million-SF Bulfinch Crossing Development in Boston

National Real Estate Advisors and HYM Investment Group's Redevelopment of the Government Center Garage to Begin in Late Spring with Development of 486-Unit Apartment Tower
January 25, 2017
One of the largest proposed mixed-use development projects in Boston's history is now underway.

Demolition began last month on a 486-unit residential tower that marks the first phase of Bulfinch Crossing, National Real Estate Advisors and HYM Investment Group's 2.9 million-square-foot mixed-use redevelopment of the Government Center Garage at 1 Congress St. that was approved last January by the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

Vertical construction is scheduled to begin in late spring on the 25-story multifamily high-rise, which at 480 feet will deliver as the tallest apartment building in the city.

Designed by CBT Architects, the tower will feature a fitness facility, golf simulator, chef’s kitchen with private dining, yoga studio, children’s playroom, outdoor pool overlooking Boston Harbor and two club rooms with roof deck access on the 32nd floor overlooking Back Bay, the Charles River and downtown Boston.

Construction on the project is slated to wrap up in late spring 2020.

Bulfinch Crossing is also set to incorporate a 43-story, 1-million-square-foot office tower designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli architects. At full build-out, the $1.5 billion Bulfinch Crossing redevelopment will consist of three towers encompassing a one-acre green rooftop terrace and three mid-rise buildings surrounding a new net-zero public plaza.
