DGS Getting New Downtown Sacramento Office Tower in 2021

State Agency Taps Rudolph and Sletten to Construct Project at 1215 O St.
December 13, 2017
The California Department of General Services (DGS) will break ground next year on a new office complex at 1215 O St. in downtown Sacramento set to house more than 1,000 state employees.

The 360,000-square-foot, 11-story office building will be constructed one block south of Capitol Park on the site of the vacant California Department of Food and Agriculture annex building, which will be razed in the summer of 2018 to make way for the new development.

Once completed, the new building will house approximately 1,150 employees from the California Health and Human Services Agency, the Department of State Hospitals and the Department of Developmental Services.

Portland, OR-based ZGF Architects has been selected to design the project, which will include first level retail space, a pedestrian plaza and a food court-style cafeteria. The development, which is slated to deliver in early 2021, will be constructed as a Zero Net Energy project and has been designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

A subsidiary of civil, building and specialty construction company Tutor Perini Corp. (NYSE: TPC), Redwood City, CA-based Rudolph and Sletten will serve as the project's general contractor with local firm Lionakis providing additional support.
