Colliers Launches Retail Marketing of San Francisco's Salesforce Transit Center

Redeveloped Transbay Terminal Positioned as 'Grand Central Station of the West'
January 12, 2018
Colliers International (Nasdaq: CIGI) has begun the marketing campaign for the retail portion of the $2 billion Transbay Transit Center, now officially the Salesforce Transit Center, slated to open this summer after eight years of construction.

The transit center, one of the largest developments in the Bay Area in the past 50 years, will serve tens of thousands of commuters, area workers, residents, and tourists. Muni bus service began in December and AC Transit will begin this summer. The center will anchor the highly anticipated (and controversial) California High-Speed Rail, projected for 2029 completion.

The center will be the focal point of the new high-density mixed-use neighborhood that will include over 4,500 new residences, 11 acres of new park space and more than 6 million square feet of new office space, including Salesforce Tower, the second-tallest building west of the Mississippi River after the Wilshire Grand Center in Los Angeles.

The center will include 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, available mainly on the ground and second levels, and in Salesforce Park on the roof of the building. Colliers has launched an informational website to attract an expected 30 new retail tenants to the transit-oriented development.

"It has been decades since a new retail-centric project has been constructed in the Financial District," said Colliers Executive Vice President Julie Taylor, who is leading the brokerage firm’s retail leasing team. "We are creating an amenity-rich pedestrian environment with over 30 new retail businesses, topped by a gorgeous 5-acre park."

Taylor noted that the Colliers team is strategically targeting local and regional shops and businesses that will cater to the thousands of daily mass transit riders, office workers, tourists and residents who will daily pass through the facility. Senior Vice President Erika Elliott and Vice President Ann Natunewicz will round out the Colliers leasing team.
