Cushman To Lead C&W's Law Firm Advisory Practice

Cushman & Wakefield hired Sherry Cushman as an executive managing director. The Washington, DC-based broker will head the company’s law firm advisory practice, which focuses on lease transactions, restructures/renewals, build-to-suits and base building renovations for
commercial real estate occupiers in the legal industry. She will travel the United States helping tenants develop long-term real estate strategies.
Cushman is a 27-year industry veteran who previously worked at CBRE as a senior vice president. Her expertise is advising tenants in the legal and nonprofit/association sectors throughout the country.
Cushman has completed more than 5 million square feet of leasing and build-to-suit transactions for specialty clients. The top producer has won the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors’ Transaction of the Year Award for her representation of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in DC and the Brendan B. McCarthy Memorial Award as voted by her colleagues. She is also a regular presenter at the Association of Legal Administrators National Conferences, Urban Land Institute and Commercial Real Estate Women organizations.

Carter Appoints 2 Senior VPs

Carter, a national investment and development firm, promoted Patti Neal (pictured at far left) to senior vice president of development and Malloy Peterson to senior vice president of advisory. Based in the Atlanta office, Neal will serve as the top construction expert and Peterson will boost Carter's consulting and development efforts.
Peterson, a seven-year veteran of the firm, was promoted from vice president of marketing where she was responsible for various rebranding initiatives. Neal, previouly a vice president, has led several major bank projects in her 12 years at Carter.

Colliers Hires SVP in Retail Services Group

Colliers International hired Todd O. Hardin as senior vice president of the retail services group in the firm's Dallas-Fort Worth office.
Hardin previously worked at SRS Real Estate Partners in Houston as a senior vice president and headed its office brokerage group. He has more than 28 years of experience including acquisitions and dispositions of land sales, and retail tenant and landlord representation. Hardin also served at JBeard Real Estate Co., Colonial Properties Trust and the Swerdlow Real Estate Group.

Grotto Joins Transwestern

John Grotto joined Transwestern as managing director in New York City.
Grotto will spearhead office and retail leasing in New York, bringing with him 20 years of industry experience. He was previously with The Durst Organization where he served as a senior leasing manager, focusing on the company's retail leasing efforts and completing more than 120 combined office and retail leasing transactions.
His most notable retail transactions include TD Ameritrade, Verizon, Staples, Starbucks and Sprint. Grotto began his career at J. Grotto and Associates.

Cohen, Mulvee Promoted to Senior Positions at PPR

Michael B. Cohen and Suzanne Mulvee have been promoted to senior positions at CoStar's Property and Portfolio Research division. Formerly senior real estate strategists, Cohen was named director of advisory services, and Mulvee was named director of research, retail. Both have been with PPR since 2003.
As director of advisory services, Cohen will manage relationships with PPR’s advisory clients to deliver custom market analysis, relative value, strategic planning and custom research solutions. An experienced strategist and consultant, Cohen has played an instrumental role in enhancing PPR’s sector expertise, and has been recognized for his research on the U.S. housing market.
In her new role as director of research, retail, Mulvee will continue to run advisory engagements, expanding the scope of her responsibilities into analytic product development for the retail sector, including micro market, retail sub-type and demographic analysis. A long-time retail expert, Mulvee regularly discusses economic trends in the retail sector as a conference speaker, author and media source.

Whelan Joined Live Oak-Gottesman as Principal

Live Oak-Gottesman LLC hired Matt Whelan as a principal of the company.
In 2009, Whelan formed RedLeaf Properties LLC, a real estate investment and development firm, to acquire and develop mixed-use projects in central Texas. The company is currently redeveloping Highland Mall in conjunction with Austin Community College. The 80-acre, mixed-use redevelopment will transform the underperforming mall in Austin.
Live Oak-Gottesman has helped shape Austin development for more than 30 years on projects as varied as downtown high-rises, the Arboretum and 35th at Jefferson.

Transwestern Taps Burback to Build IE Team

Transwestern has hired industry veteran David Burback as executive vice president and managing director, tasked with spearheading the expansion of the firm's brokerage service in the Inland Empire region.
Before Transwestern, Burback served as executive vice president and managing director for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, where he managed the company's Ontario and San Gabriel Valley offices. He also worked at Grubb & Ellis as national industrial practice group leader, providing management and support to industrial professionals nationwide.
An Inland Empire native with more than 30 years in the industry, Burback "will play a crucial role as we actively recruit industrial, office and retail brokers consequently growing our capabilities in the Inland Empire," said George Garfield, president of Transwestern's west region.
