NEW YORK CITY

Colliers Names New President to Lead US Business

Colliers International expanded its executive team with the addition of Craig M. Robinson in the newly created position of president of Colliers' U.S. operations.

Robinson, previously the president of corporate services for Cassidy Turley, will be responsible for managing all day-to-day aspects of the firm's commercial real estate services in the U.S., including operations and business development. He will report to Colliers' Americas CEO Dylan Taylor.

At Cassidy Turley, Robinson oversaw the firm's corporate services business, account operations and strategic planning. He also served on that firm's executive committee and board of directors.



ATLANTA

Dunavin Joining Cassidy Turley as Managing Principal

Cassidy Turley is bringing longtime Cushman & Wakefield leasing broker Lisa Dunavin over as managing principal and market leader. She will assume her new position on May 1, 2014.

Previously head of Cushman & Wakefield's project leasing group in Atlanta, Dunavin has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. She began her career with Cushman & Wakefield in 1988. Prior to rejoining Cushman in 2005, she held positions with several firms, including as senior vice president with Trammell Crow Co., leasing director with Equity Office Properties, and leasing manager with Hines.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Dunavin has served as president of NAIOP’s Georgia Chapter and won the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors’ Alvin B. Cates Award, the organization’s annual recognition for Atlanta’s top real estate transaction. Recently, she was also recognized as one of Atlanta’s Top 10 producers in the landlord category by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors for 2013.



NEW YORK CITY

Gibson Joins JLL to Expand NYC Retail Brokerage Team

JLL named Robert Gibson as vice chairman of New York retail brokerage in Manhattan. Gibson will be responsible for growing the firm's retail tenant and agency leasing business in New York.

Previously a vice chairman with Cushman & Wakefield, Gibson has more than 26 years of retail leasing experience. He will oversee JLL’s existing NYC retail brokerage team, which includes Paul Berkman, Craig Slosberg, and Davie Berke.

"New York is a vital market for international retailers pursuing entry into the U.S., and for national retailers seeking access to an extremely dense customer base," said Greg Maloney, CEO of JLL Retail. "As retail's globalization continues and competition for prime, high-street locations increases, the addition of Bob Gibson to our New York retail platform will significantly enhance our ability to service clients with the very best representation."

CalPERS Names New Sr Investment Officer

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has named Tom McDonagh as acting senior investment officer for real assets. McDonagh is taking over for Ted Eliopoulos, who has been named interim chief investment officer following the passing of the late Joe Dear.

"Tom is a valued part of our team, and has both the investment and management experience needed to lead the asset class," said Eliopoulos. "I look forward to working with Tom and welcome him to the senior management team."

As acting SIO, McDonagh will be responsible for implementation and management of investment strategy and policy for the pension fund's $27.8 billion portfolio of real estate assets worldwide. CalPERS is one of the largest and most recognizable public pension funds in the country with more than $280 billion in assets.



NEW YORK CITY

Daly Appointed to COO at Jonathan Rose Cos

Michael Daly has joined Jonathan Rose Companies LLC, a leading green real estate development and project management firm that is actively expanding in the Northeast.

In his new role as COO of the firm, Daly will manage the company's operations and oversee the expansion and diversification of its nationwide office and residential portfolio.

Daly most recently served as president of Mesa Del Sol, an affiliate of Forest City Enterprises, where he oversaw a 9,000-acre urban mixed-use project that will total 38,000 homes and 18 million square feet of commercial space. Before that he worked with senior housing developer Sterling Glen Communities and he began his career at Forest City Ratner Companies in Manhattan.



DENVER

Cardinal Group Management Adds New Principal

Laurie Lyons recently joined Cardinal Group Management as a principal and will be responsible for business development, client relations and strategic consulting of property management operations.

Lyons has nearly 30 years of experience in the real estate field and began as an on-site manger for a 287-unit multifamily portfolio. She also co-founded and served as the CEO for BH Management Services.

Cardinal Group Management is a fully-integrated real estate investment, development and management firm specializing in opportunistic and value-added investments throughout the United States.



PHOENIX

Opus Group Opens Phoenix Office, Taps Pobuda as SVP and GM

The Opus Group is opening an office in Phoenix, and has hired Lawrence Pobuda as senior vice president and general manager of its Opus Development Company LLC. In his new role, Pobuda will pursue new business opportunities for the firm across a variety of property sectors in the Phoenix market.

A 26-year industry veteran, Pobuda joins the firm from Transwestern, where he most recently served as senior vice president of capital markets. Before that he was co-founder and partner of Stewart Lawrence Group, a Minneapolis-based investment firm. He also held positions at United Properties and Trammell Crow Company.

Pobuda holds an MBA in marketing and finance from Northwestern University, and earned his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He is a member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and served as the chairman of the national board of directors of 2010 and is a past president of the Minnesota chapter.



ATLANTA

Moot Joins Transwestern

Bob Moot joined Transwestern as senior vice president of tenant advisory services. In his new role, Moot will implement real estate strategies and consulting services for Transwestern’s legal and corporate clients.

Moot brings extensive knowledge of tenant representation and can draw on his legal background. Moot previously practiced law at King & Spalding and at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker, where he focused on the commercial real estate fundamentals of leasing, acquisition and development. He previously served as a director at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

Moot has more than 29 years of experience with real estate interests and has negotiated more than 5 million square feet of leasing transactions.



LONG ISLAND

Palmeri Appointed to SVP at Loews Hotels & Resorts

Michael Palmeri has been promoted to senior vice president, acquisitions and development at Loews Hotels & Resorts, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Loews Corporation (NYSE: L). In his new role, he lead the company's property acquisitions, real estate development, and capital raising.

Palmeri joined Loews in 2011 and has been instrumental in its growth and expansion since. The firm has recently acquired hotels in Los Angeles, Boston, and Washington, DC; while opening a fourth in Orlando - Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, a joint-venture with NBC Universal.

"Michael and his team are playing a vital part as we focus on growing and expanding our portfolio domestically and internationally," said Paul Whetsell, president and CEO of Loews Hotels & Resorts.



SOUTH BAY

JLL Appoints Two in Silicon Valley

Sofi Choi and Steven Chon joined JLL as senior vice presidents in the Palo Alto office.

A 13-year veteran of property management, development and commercial brokerage, Choi has assisted multinational corporations based in Silicon Valley with office and industrial space requirements and relocations and has also counseled investors with hospitality, multifamily and retail properties.

Chon has more than 10 years of experience in representing multinational firms in Silicon Valley and the Asia Pacific, representing both tenants and landlords as well as assisting with site acquisitions and dispositions. He has also represented high net worth individuals investing in retail, hospitality and multifamily properties throughout the U.S.

Belpedio, Nickloy Join Copaken Brooks

Kansas City brokerage firm Copaken Brooks added Jodi Belpedio as vice president of acquisitions and David Nickloy to its tenant and corporate services group.

Belpedio brings nearly 20 years of real estate expertise in the Kansas City area. She will match client investment needs with class A properties across the country. Belpedio also specializes in real estate investments, asset and property management, and leasing.

Nickloy's role will consist of assisting regional and national companies to increase the efficiency of real estate decisions made across numerous markets. Nickloy previously worked for a manufacturing and logistics company, and brings his experience of financial analysis, strategic planning and marketing.



MINNEAPOLIS

Budish Joins Duke Realty

Duke Realty Corporation has hired Josh Budish as its vice president of leasing and development. Based in the Minneapolis office, Budish will be responsible for leasing the company’s 4.4 million-square-foot portfolio in addition to identifying new development and investment opportunities for the firm.

Prior to joining Duke Realty, Budish was responsible for suburban office and industrial leasing with Liberty Property Trust. Budish began his career at CBRE, serving as an associate there.

Budish holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.



NORTHERN NEW JERSEY

Tepper Tapped To Lead Mill Creek's Northeast Expansion

Russell Tepper has joined Mill Creek Residential, a national apartment investor, owner and operator, as senior managing director of its Northeast region. In his new role, Tepper will lead the company's strategic growth in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Tepper brings 21 years of industry experience, having previously served as vice president of development for Matrix Development Group, where he managed the company's urban redevelopment portfolio and mixed-use investments including more than five million square feet of commercial space and over 2,000 residential units.

"Russell’s breadth of experience and knowledge in the Tri-State market make him an ideal fit for our rapidly growing organization," said Peter Porraro, Mill Creek's executive managing director, who oversees all development and construction activity for the company's Northeast and Mid-Atlantic portfolio.



PHILADELPHIA

Munley Joins HFF in Philadelphia

Christopher Munley has joined HFF in its Conshohocken, PA office as a managing director. In his new role, Munley will focus on retail investment sales transactions in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Munley was previously at Marcus & Millichap, where he specialized in the sale of single- and multi-tenant retail real estate properties. While at M&M, Munley was a four-time sales recognition achievement award winner, and a three-time national achievement award winner.

Munley holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Drew University.
