Macy's Elects REIT Exec to Board of Directors

Answering investors' calls to review its real estate options and spin off holdings to boost shareholder value, Macy's Inc. has appointed an experienced REIT executive to its board of directors. William Lenehan, president and chief executive officer of Four Corners Property Trust, Inc. will bring his extensive knowledge and experience in real estate management.

In August Lenehan took the helm of Four Corners, Darden Restaurant's indirect, wholly-owned REIT. Lenehan previously was a special advisor to the board of EVOQ Properties, Inc., and before that served as the interim CEO of MI Development (now Granite REIT) and was an investment professional with the real estate investment group at Farallon Capital Management LLC.

Dermody Properties Appoints New Partner, CAO

Dermody Properties expanded its Midwest regional office in Chicago with the addition of Michael J. Dolan as a partner and Timothy F. Walsh (pictured, right) as its chief acquisitions officer.

Dolan will look to expand the firm's presence in the Midwest through acquisitions, dispositions and developments in the region. Walsh will be responsible for the company's acquisition and investment endeavors across the U.S.


Owens Appointed CIO of Piedmont Office Realty Trust

Raymond L. Owens has been named Piedmont Office Realty Trust’s new chief investment officer. Prior to his appointment, Owens was responsible for all acquisition, disposition and financing activities for Piedmont as executive vice president of capital markets.

This past year he led Piedmont through the disposal of nine assets totaling $1 billion, the largest of which is the 2.8 million-square-foot Aon Center in Chicago. In his 35-year career in real estate, Owens has worked for PM Realty Group, General Electric Asset Management, Traveler’s Realty Investment Company and Aetna Realty Investors.

CBRE Promotes Sussman to Vice Chairman

CBRE Group, Inc. has promoted Andrew Sussman to vice chairman in the firm's New York City office. Sussman boasts more than 18 years of commercial real estate experience, and has completed more than 10 million square feet of commercial leases over the past five years alone.

"Achieving vice chairman is a pinnacle for achievement and a well-deserved honor," said Matthew Van Buren, president of CBRE's Northeast Division. "Andrew’s career is a showcase for successfully navigating real estate complexities for some of our city’s largest and most significant occupiers."


Colliers NYC Promotes Plotkin

Colliers International has promoted Jonathan Plotkin to executive managing director of brokerage services in the firm's New York City office. Plotkin joined Colliers in 2003 and specializes in investment sales and leasing transactions, most recently as a senior managing director.

"Jonathan is that rare breed of real estate professional that excels across several platforms, including investment sales, disposition of assets, and the leasing of office and luxury retail both in New York City and in markets across the globe," said Kim Brennan, chief operating officer for Colliers International’s Tri-State Region.

Henry S. Miller Appoints New Retail Division Lead

Henry S. Miller has selected Paul W. Vernon to head up the company's retail brokerage division. As executive vice president, Vernon will oversee retail brokerage services including landlord and tenant representation, retail and land development, property disposition, and income properties and land sales.

Vernon spent nearly 30 years with the John T. Evans Co. before transitioning to Crest Commercial Real Estate to take over as its director of retail leasing and development. He is a graduate of SMU.


Waterton Expands National Operations Platform

Waterton has promoted Lela Cirjakovic to manage the firm's national multifamily operations team as executive vice president. Additionally, the firm hired Scott Ferguson (pictured, right) to oversee multifamily properties in Chicago and the Western U.S. as assistant vice president.

"As we merge our multifamily and hospitality platforms and look to leverage synergies between the two, we’re simultaneously bringing on new talent and promoting from within to streamline operations and create a more cohesive brand across our entire portfolio," said David Schwartz, co-founder and CEO of Waterton.


Klaess Joins Pinnacle as New Regional VP

Pinnacle has brought in 30-year industry veteran Tom Klaess to help oversee the expanded regional portfolio as well as a team of professionals as regional vice president. Previously, Klaess served as COO of Lamar Communities and before that held executive-level positions at Archstone Communities and National Housing Partnership.

Klaess will oversee and manage more than 11,554 apartment homes across Colorado. The management assignment for 17 new properties in Colorado from a single client represents a 100% increase in Colorado operations for Dallas-based Pinnacle.
