CHICAGO
Shlaes and McDermott Join Newmark Grubb Knight Frank

Michael McDermott (below) and Noah Shlaes (right) joined Global Corporate Services, part of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, as director and senior managing director, respectively.

Shlaes previously worked at Grubb & Ellis as the managing director of the strategic consulting group. Before that, he worked at Arthur Anderson as the director of corporate real estate services.

With more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience, Shlaes has experience in international banks, manufacturing companies and universities.

McDermott, who will move into the position of director, is also a former Grubb broker. His specialties include client location analysis, incentives research and negotiation, and multi-industry portfolio analysis.

PITTSBURGH
Avison Young Opens New Pittsburgh Office

Five real estate professionals from Grubb & Ellis of Pittsburgh will oversee the new Avison Young office.

George "Duke" Kingsley (left) will assume the role of principal and managing director for Pittsburgh. He formerly served as an executive vice president and managing director at Grubb & Ellis. Kingsley has provided landlord and tenant services to many high-end clients throughout his 37-year tenure. Additionally, he specializes in consulting, strategy and planning, financial analysis and site selection. Kingsley is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the Building Owners and Management Association.

James Kelly was named as a principal and senior vice president for the new Pittsburgh office. He was formerly vice president of investments at Grubb, awarded Grubb & Ellis Top Producer and CoStar Power Broker Awards in 2011. Kelly has experience working with various retail, office and multifamily projects and development. He is a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, Mortgage Bankers Association, International Council of Shopping Centers and NAIOP.

Bradley Totten was also named principal and senior vice president. He was a senior vice president at Grubb. Totten has provided landlord brokerage services for owners of office buildings in the central business district and tenant services for other Pittsburgh companies. Totten has been awarded as one of Top 100 Producers at Grubb for several years.

Former Grubb brokers Brandon Snyder and Michael Downey will also join Avison Young as vice presidents for the new Pittsburgh location.


DENVER
Cantwell and O'Donnell Join CBRE in Denver

Commercial mortgage brokerage professionals Michael A. Cantwell and Brady O'Donnell joined CBRE as executive vice presidents. The Denver-based brokers will serve the needs of investors throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Cantwell was a co-founding partner and O'Donnell was a principal with Johnson Capital of Colorado, a local mortgage banking firm. Cantwell has nearly three decades of mortgage banking and commercial real estate experience, including prior service with CBRE's predecessor company. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

O'Donnell was a national top producer at Johnson Capital. He specialized in structuring multifamily and commercial investment property debt and equity. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado.

CBRE also agreed to acquire a portion of Johnson Capital's loan servicing portfolio owned by the Denver office.


NORTHERN NEW JERSEY
Onyx Equities Names Minatelli SVP of Asset Management

Onyx Equities named Jared Minatelli as the new senior vice president of asset management in Woodbridge, NJ. Prior to joining the private real estate investment, development, and management firm, Minatelli was the asset manager for Madison Capital.

While at Madison Capital he oversaw the operations and management of a $225 million portfolio, which included retail, commercial office and multifamily assets within the New York and New Jersey areas.

At Onyx Equities, Minatelli will handle the management of the firm's portfolio. He will also be held accountable for asset management activities that include strategic planning, leasing and capital programming.
