Miller-Valentine Appoints Marrocco to Market President

Peter Marrocco has been named by Miller-Valentine Group as the firm's market president for Cincinnati. In his new role, Marrocco will work to bolster development and construction in the area in an effort to increase the company's Cincinnati market share.

Marrocco has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and construction, most recently serving as a vice president with HGC Construction. He is also the co-founder of Sierra Stone Industries, a stone products manufacturer.


Värde Partners Appoints Ward CEO of Trimont

Global alternative investment advisor Värde Partners has selected Brian Ward as CEO of Trimont Real Estate Advisors in Atlanta. Trimont currently manages a global portfolio totaling more than $90 billion of client assets.

Prior to joining Trimont, Ward served as president of capital markets and investment services for the Americas at Colliers International. Preceding Colliers, he served as national director of capital markets for Institutional Property Advisors as well as its parent company, Marcus & Millichap.

Cresa Launches New Consulting Grp

Cresa has added Jeff Estep, Matt Ryder and Rick Ybarra (pictured, right) to head up the corporate real estate advisory firm's recently launched consulting division, Cresa Consulting Group (CCG).

Atlanta-based Estep serves as managing principal and global director of the platform, while Ryder, also based in Atlanta, has been named principal. Ybarra serves as managing principal and operates out of the firm's Nashville office. The three formerly operated as Honour Consulting, an independent firm founded by Estep in 1999.


Franklin Street Names Regional Managing Partner

Franklin Street has tapped former Multi Housing Group owner John Leonard to manage the firm's Atlanta office as regional managing partner, tasked with expanding the firm's office and industrial reach while overseeing day-to-day operations.

As owner and broker for Multi Housing Group, Leonard specialized in the development and sale of student housing projects across the Southeast U.S. Previously, Leonard was a first vice president and regional manager during the course of his 15-year career with Marcus & Millichap.


Bridge Development Promotes Groetsema to Principal

Bridge Development Partners has promoted Steve Groetsema to principal. Groetsema has been with Bridge since the firm's inception in 2007, originally joining the company as an analyst before being named director of development and leasing in 2010.

As Bridge's Chicago partner, Groetsema's new responsibilities include acquisitions, development and leasing in the Chicago region.


Cushman & Wakefield Hires Daley

Cushman & Wakefield has tapped Michael Daley as its new global chief marketing officer. Based in the firm's New York City office, Daley will lead the global marketing and communications team.

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Daley worked with a health and wellness start-up company and was chief marketing and sales officer at Mercer, a global professional services firm.

Greystone Taps Forester to Lead Hospitality Lending Practice

Greystone has selected former GE Capital Real Estate managing director Gregory Forester to head up its recently launched, hospitality-focused lending and investing practice in Rockville, MD.

As managing director, Forester will serve client equity and capital structuring needs within the Greystone Bassuk Group with a focus on CMBS fixed- and floating-rate financing and EB-5 development funding.

A 28-year industry veteran, Forester spend the last 18 years at GE, most recently as commercial lender and managing director for its hotel lending group. His career also includes stints with CW Capital, Berkshire Mortgage Corp and FD Rich Company of Boston.


HFF Hires Escarzega to Expand Hotel Investment Sales Team

James Escarzega has joined HFF in its San Francisco office as a managing director. He will focus on hotel investment sales throughout the Bay Area and the West Coast as part of HFF’s national hotel group led by Daniel Peek.

Before joining HFF he worked for Cushman and Wakefield’s Global Hospitality Group as managing director for three years. Prior to Cushman, Escarzega was a senior vice president and senior consultant with Pinnacle Advisory Group/Pinnacle Realty Investments.

Before beginning his career in real estate Escarzega went through the hospitality management training program at The Waldorf Astoria in New York after graduating from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in 1995.


Western Construction Grp Promotes Brooks to SVP

Tom Brooks was promoted from vice president of operations and business development to senior vice president at Western Construction Group in Creve Coeur, MO.

Brooks brings 20 years of construction experience, having previously worked for eight years for Berglund Construction in Chicago, IL. His career also includes owning his own construction company and working as a construction manager for Gough & Gough in Valparaiso, IN.

Brooks is a member of Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), Construction Users Round Table (CURT), and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).


Thomas Returns to Colliers as SVP

Greg Thomas has rejoined Colliers International as a senior vice president for Sacramento brokerage.

Thomas spent 16 years with Colliers before transitioning to Cornish and Carey in 2006. He returns to Colliers to help bolster the firm's retail platform, bringing with him more than 37 years of experience in representing retail and office tenants and landlords.

Past clients include Applebee's Restaurants, Bel Air Markets, Children's Learning Adventure, Lifetime Fitness, Longs Drugs, Lucky Stores, Rite Aid, Sprint/Nextel, Sprouts Farmers Markets and Umpqua Bank. Thomas is a member of ICSC.


Goodstein Joins Colliers as SVP

Colliers International South Florida named Jarred M. Goodstein as a senior vice president in its Fort Lauderdale, FL office. In his new role, Goldstein will focus on office leasing and sales.

Prior to joining Colliers, Goodstein served with CBRE where he specialized in leasing, marketing and sales of prominent office buildings. He has more than 13 years of experience in the real estate industry.

Goodstein is a member of the South Florida Office Brokers Association. He earned a bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Kaplan Joins Hoff & Leigh of Akron

David Kaplan has joined Hoff & Leigh as a vice president.

Kaplan will provide brokerage services to clients in the Cleveland, Akron and Canton markets. He spent the last 13 years at NAI Cummins in Akron, where he provided similar services.

Kaplan is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the International Council of Shopping Centers.


Trotter Named VP at Charter Properties

Charter Properties has hired John Scott Trotter as vice president of acquisitions and dispositions. In his new role, Trotter will be involved in Charter's investment sales efforts and managing its financing relationships.

Trotter joins Charter from Blue Heron Capital, where he was managing principal and recently oversaw the monitization of a majority of the company's portfolio. He also previously worked at J.P. Morgan in the company's real estate and lodging investment banking group in New York City.


Glauser Benz Joins Oppenheim Architecture + Design

Christian Glauser Benz joined Oppenheim Architecture as vice president, tasked with oversight of the hospitality design practice area.

Glauser Benz’s has worked with a network of domestic and international clients in hotel and retail development and real estate capital groups. Prior to joining Oppenheim, Glauser Benz was a vice president at JLL, where he oversaw new hospitality developments. Earlier in his career he was with Callison / RTKL, WATG, Cesar Pelli and Frank Gehry.


Makoloski Joins First Capital Realty

Travis Makoloski has joined First Capital Realty as a senior leasing manager in the Calgary office. In his new role, Makoloski will manage leasing for First Capital Realty’s retail properties, including Cranston Market and Towerlane Centre.

Makoloski previously worked for Colliers International, joining the firm's Calgary retail division as an associate in 2012.
